Plan and document construction work
Use the project sections to keep construction tasks and evidence connected.
How to use it
- In Schedule, use Add phase, Add task, and Add milestone. Add responsibility, dates, phase, and prerequisites when known. List, Calendar, and Timeline show the same saved tasks. Calendar and Timeline use the selected month; use Load more when the view reports additional tasks.
- Use Revise task or Review milestone to change dates and explain the revision. Earlier values remain in History. Cyclic prerequisites, invalid dates, and completing work before its prerequisites are rejected. Complete phases after their tasks. Progress is completed tasks divided by all recorded tasks; milestones are tracked separately and this percentage does not measure physical construction.
- Needs attention opens role-specific actions and unread updates, including older records. Marking an update read does not finish the underlying action. Notification preferences apply to this property; builder digests use email and depend on configured delivery.
- In Materials & trades, record permit requirements, material orders, and vendor or subcontractor contacts. A contact or assigned task is a record, not an account invitation. Manage reusable trade contacts in Company workspace. Grant employees explicit project access and optionally management or financial permission; company membership alone does not expose a project.
- Use Design & selections to submit specifications and design revisions for homeowner approval. Attach plans in Documents. Interactive room creation, the property map, and floor plan editing remain in the homeowner workspace; builder access does not grant access to those editors.
- Use Quality & walkthrough for inspections, corrections, and punch-list work. Provide source or resolution evidence before requesting review. The homeowner accepts completed quality work.
- Budget & changes contains shared contract budgets and proposed changes. Only the homeowner approves the contract budget and changes. Enter USD amounts with no more than two decimal places; fractional cents are rejected. Approved changes affect the contract total, actual costs record expenses, and payments record settlement separately.
- For private company estimates, purchase orders, costs and change impacts, use Job costs & purchasing with a finance grant. Keep margins and supplier invoices there. Shared contract budgets remain separate. External construction platform connections depend on their configured provider; this release does not add a live Buildertrend connector or move money.
Active construction collaboration requires the household’s Ark+ entitlement. Household roles and builder permissions still apply. Existing history is preserved when access changes.
